Empowering Women’s Health: ILoveBoobies’ Fight Against Breast Cancer - Women's Health Magazine, October 2023

Women are the cornerstone of a family’s physical and spiritual well-being, playing an indispensable role in upholding the stability and endurance of our societal fabric. They are mothers, daughters and sisters to everyone. Their health directly impacts not only themselves but also their children, families and communities. To maximise their excellence, it’s crucial to ensure that women have access to quality healthcare.

Prioritising Breast Health

Breast health is a fundamental aspect of women’s overall well-being. Breast cancer, in particular, poses a significant threat to women’s health globally. It’s a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women. 12% of all women everywhere will experience breast cancer in their lifetime.  Most detections are in women with no history of it in the family – they are new detections. It is common and it is not the patient’s fault. Breast cancer diagnoses are becoming more common among women in their 20s and 30s from various ethnic backgrounds.

What ILoveBoobies Does

The key to reducing its impact lies in early detection and education. Access to breast health services is tricky, especially in disadvantaged communities. Additionally, a lack of awareness and knowledge about breast health is a big challenge.

ILoveBoobies is dedicated to increasing the survival rate of women in South Africa and beyond. They have established comprehensive and targeted breast health screening programs, which have already educated and screened nearly seven thousand women in underserved communities.

ILoveBoobies has also undertaken an extensive educational and awareness-building campaign that has reached over 15 million people in South Africa, all about breast cancer, early detection and the importance of regular screenings.
