This past weekend, our ILoveBoobies screening team joined forces with SHAWCO, UCT and RES Healthcare at Hangberg Sentinel Primary School for a community healthcare day in Hout Bay.
For many South Africans—over 80%, in fact—public healthcare is the only option. But it often comes with long queues, hours of waiting, and missed workdays. For those living paycheck to paycheck, "no work, no pay" isn’t just a phrase—it’s a harsh reality that puts basic healthcare, including breast screenings, out of reach.
That’s why days like these matter so much. A total of 424 patients registered for care, receiving services from dentistry to diabetes testing, TB and HIV checks, and even access to an on-site pharmacy.
Our dedicated ILoveBoobies screening team—Alex Munch, Cecil Munch, Sisters Cecelia Wilson, Gail du Plooy, Lungiswa Manyaki, and Assistant Ethel Smith—screened 169 women, providing free breast health checks. 13 women were referred to our radiology partners at SCP Radiology for immediate follow-up diagnostics, ensuring no time is lost when it matters most.
We are deeply grateful to the incredible humans—volunteers, healthcare workers, and organizers—who give up their personal time to care for others. It is this selflessness that makes the world a better place for all of us.
Moments from the day were beautifully captured by Carli Smith, reflecting the heart and humanity behind every smile, every screening, every step toward accessible healthcare for all.
