The Secret’s Out: ILoveBoobies Secret Swim Returns for 2025
Cape Town, South Africa — ILoveBoobies is making waves again with the return of the Secret Swim 2025, taking place on Saturday, 11 October 2025 at 18 secret swim venues across South Africa.
The Secret Swim is not a race, but a mindful gathering of connection, courage, and community. Women of all ages come together at sunrise to celebrate survivors, support fighters, and remember those lost to breast cancer. Each participant discovers their secret swim location only at midnight the night before, adding an element of surprise and excitement.
This year’s event spans from Upington to East London, with swims hosted in oceans, dams, and pools. It is a unique moment of unity, designed to shine a light on breast cancer awareness while raising critical funds for women in need.
With an entry fee of R200, the Secret Swim is also a fundraiser. Proceeds directly support ILoveBoobies’ mission: to create awareness, educate women on how to self-examine, and provide free breast cancer screenings to women from underserved communities across South Africa.
“Our vision is to take the Secret Swim global and create a Guinness World Record for the largest breast cancer awareness event held simultaneously across multiple venues worldwide,” says Nicky Webb, Director “Think of New Year’s Eve when the clock strikes midnight — that kind of global energy, but channeled into hope, unity, and change.”
What makes the Secret Swim truly special is the safe space it creates for women to connect. Each gathering has a strict no-cellphone policy — once the event begins, all phones are put away to protect privacy. Women are encouraged to simply be present, embrace the moment, and support one another. For those who feel comfortable, there is the option to swim topless — a symbolic act of freedom and solidarity. As part of the ritual, one powerful photograph is taken from behind with tops down, capturing the unity of the group without compromising anyone’s dignity.
Equally inspiring is the event’s organic growth: every year, women who attend are so moved by the experience that they volunteer to host a new venue the following year. This spirit of pay-it-forward sisterhood has helped the Secret Swim expand into more towns and communities year after year.
Now in its eighth year, the Secret Swim has grown from a small gathering in Cape Town into a nationwide movement. Each splash made helps fund life-saving education and screenings, ensuring that awareness leads to action.
