At this year’s Absa Cape Epic, ILoveBoobies was proud to once again bring our mission of free breast cancer screenings to the heart of the event. Over the course of the race, our team provided 509 screenings to crew members and the public — a powerful reminder of how sport can be used as a platform for change.

What made this year especially significant was Absa’s remarkable commitment: to match fund every screening conducted at the event. This means that beyond the 509 screenings completed during Cape Epic, another 509 women from underserved communities across South Africa will now be able to access essential breast health services through our programme.

For many women, these screenings represent more than just a medical check — they are an opportunity for early detection, dignity, and hope. Absa’s support allows us to continue breaking down barriers of cost, access, and awareness that so often stand in the way of women receiving care.

Our team was also deeply moved by the enthusiasm and encouragement of the Absa staff members. Many took the time to engage with us, learn about our mission, and even attend screenings themselves. It truly felt like a collective victory, where everyone involved was a winner — raising awareness, fostering community, and prioritising health.
