Bringing Dignity and Support to Hoekstra Fruit Exporters
This past week, on Tuesday 22 April and Thursday 24 April, our screening team returned to Hoekstra Fruit Exporters as part of our ongoing mission to provide accessible breast health services to women in rural and underserved communities. We were able to screen 135 women, with 5 referred to SCP Paarl for further medical care.
As part of our continued commitment to dignity and empowerment, each woman received two bras, lovingly selected from our Gently Used Bra Campaign. It’s always heartwarming to witness the smiles and quiet confidence that comes with something as simple — yet deeply personal — as a well-fitted bra.
One particularly touching moment came on Tuesday, when a woman who had previously undergone a mastectomy arrived with her group, hoping we might have prosthetic fillers to help her wear a bra more comfortably. We didn’t have them on-hand that day, but thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we had prosthetics available from previous donations. So when we returned on Thursday, we were able to meet her request and fit her with exactly what she needed. The gratitude in her eyes reminded us all why we do what we do.
Every visit like this is a reminder that small acts can make a big impact — and that community, kindness, and care are the cornerstones of true healthcare.
Thank you to everyone who supports ILoveBoobies. Your donations, your gently used bras, and your belief in what we do are changing lives — one woman, one screening, one story at a time. 💖
