Our Biggest Weekend Yet. But This Is Why We Exist.

Our Biggest Weekend Yet. But This Is Why We Exist.

Our Biggest Weekend Yet. But This Is Why We Exist.

WHAT A WEEKEND. WHAT A COMMUNITY. WHAT AN IMPACT.

This past weekend will go down as one of the most extraordinary in the nearly 10-year history of ILoveBoobies.

Never before have we experienced this level of awareness, visibility and community support. From rugby stadiums filled with thousands of supporters to women gathering at sunrise across South Africa, our message reached further than we could ever have imagined.

And while all of this was happening, our nurses were quietly doing the work that sits at the very heart of our organisation.

TWO STADIUMS. FOUR RUGBY TEAMS. ONE POWERFUL MESSAGE.

From Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria to DHL Stadium in Cape Town, South African rugby stood together for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

An enormous thank you to Vodacom, URC and USN, together with the Bulls, Lions, Stormers and Sharks, for using their platforms to shine a spotlight on ILoveBoobies and the importance of early detection.

Hundreds of thousands of eyes were on our message over the weekend. The exposure was extraordinary, but the most important moment was the recognition of Springbok rugby referee Aimee Barrett-Theron, who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Aimee's journey is a powerful reminder that breast cancer does not discriminate. It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from or how healthy and active you may be. This disease can affect anyone.

We are especially grateful that Aimee has chosen to use her position of influence to speak openly about her experience and help normalise conversations around breast health.

It's the very reason we chose the name ILoveBoobies nearly 10 years ago.

Talk about your breasts. Know your normal. Recognise when something changes. And take action.

Aimee, the rugby community stands with you, and so do we.

AND WE HAVE A RUGBY COMPETITION WINNER!

We brought a little extra excitement to Loftus Versfeld with a competition to win 20 pairs of ILoveBoobies socks.

Congratulations to riaanbecker01@gmail.com, our lucky winner!

That's 20 pairs of socks to share with friends and family, or keep every single pair for himself. We won't judge!

And here's why those socks matter. Every five pairs sold help fund one free breast screening.

Do Good | Look Good | Feel Good

25 SECRET SWIMS. 2,500 WOMEN. ONE INCREDIBLE MORNING.

On Saturday morning, 2,500 women gathered at 25 Secret Swim locations across South Africa.

Some came to celebrate surviving breast cancer. Others came to stand alongside friends, sisters, mothers and daughters currently undergoing treatment. Many came to remember someone they had lost.

And some simply came because they needed to be surrounded by women who understood.

There were tears, laughter, hugs, quiet reflection and moments of extraordinary connection.

No racing. No competition. No expectations. Just 90 minutes of women supporting women, away from their phones and the demands of everyday life.

What started as one small gathering at Clifton has grown into 25 locations nationwide.

The Secret Swim has become so much more than a swim. It is a community, a safe space and a reminder that nobody needs to navigate breast cancer alone.

To our incredible hostesses and their teams, and every woman who stepped into the water, thank you for making this year's Secret Swim so special.

14,000 IMAGINE CHALLENGERS. MOVING WITH PURPOSE.

While all of this was unfolding, 14,000 Imagine Challengers continued to run, walk, cycle, swim, gym and move their way through October.

Across South Africa and beyond, people are showing up every day, challenging themselves and moving in honour of women they love.

Our incredible sponsors have been adding to the excitement with prize giveaways every few days, and our social media channels have been buzzing with stories, achievements and celebrations.

But behind every activity logged is something much bigger.

This year, every Imagine Challenge entry funds one free clinical breast screening.

14,000 people moving with purpose. Thousands of opportunities to change a woman's future.

BUT THIS IS WHY WE EXIST.

While stadiums were filled with cheering fans, women were gathering at Secret Swims and thousands of Imagine Challengers were moving across the country, something equally important was happening at Willowbridge Shopping Centre in Cape Town.

Our nursing team was doing what ILoveBoobies was created to do.

91 women received free clinical breast screenings.

19 of those women were referred for further investigation.

For those 19 women, the journey doesn't end when they leave our screening gazebo.

Our screening team will now coordinate their next steps, arranging appointments with our partner radiologists for mammograms or ultrasounds and, where necessary, biopsies.

Our medical team will review the findings, and each woman will be supported through the process until there is clarity on her diagnosis.

Where cancer is confirmed, we help connect her to the appropriate treatment pathway.

A referral does not mean a woman has cancer. It means something needs to be investigated, and she deserves to know what it is.

For many of the women we screen, access to these services is not simple. Time away from work, transport, financial constraints and navigating an unfamiliar healthcare system can all become barriers.

Our role is to help remove those barriers and make sure a concern identified at a screening is followed through.

This is our purpose. This is why we exist.

The stadiums, the swims, the thousands of Imagine Challengers, the sponsors and the publicity all help us reach this moment.

A woman receiving a screening she might otherwise never have had.

A concern being identified.

A woman being given the opportunity to get answers and access care.

THE REAL MEASURE OF OUR SUCCESS.

To Vodacom, URC, USN, Bulls, Lions, Sharks & Stormers supporters, Secret Swim hostesses, Imagine Challenge sponsors, volunteers, nurses, medical partners and every single person who showed up this weekend — thank you.

The exposure was extraordinary. The community spirit was overwhelming.

We know that opportunities like these will open doors, create new partnerships and help us reach more women across South Africa.

But our greatest achievement this weekend wasn't measured in stadium crowds, social media impressions or the number of people participating in our events.

It was measured in 91 women screened, 19 concerns identified and 19 women who will now be supported through the next steps.

Because awareness only becomes meaningful when it leads to action.

And that is why we will keep showing up.
